JavaScript's Math object provides a method for rounding to whole numbers. If we want to round to a set number of decimal places, then we have to handle that ourselves. This post doesn't get into the details of floating-point arithmetic, but the short of it is most programming languages use a binary floating-point representation which can only approximate many decimal fractions. This results in rounding errors for the most common approaches to rounding in JavaScript. The rand() function was added to generate an integer value between the two passed values start, and end.

What libraries like Moment.js and date-fns do, can still be achieved with native JavaScript. However, they make working with date objects fun, easier, and with improved code readability. To get started, import the add functions, then add the unit of time to the base date.
Specify the operation you want to perform as the first argument followed by the number of units to add. Include the format function to format the date returned. In JavaScript, round() is a function that is used to return a number rounded to the nearest integer value. Because the round() function is a static function of the Math object, it must be invoked through the placeholder object called Math. Some programs may have relied on the oversimplified rule that "a year divisible by four is a leap year".
